TRUE Advisory Council issues call for volunteers

GBCI is seeking innovative sustainability professionals and experts in the materials management and circular economy sector to play a key role in the evolution of the TRUE certification program for zero waste by becoming members of the TRUE Advisory Council (TAC).

TAC supports the TRUE program by

  • Supporting the evolution of the TRUE rating system and related tools and resources, including by providing feedback and reviews on addenda, innovations and guidance resources.
  • Supporting program strategy and advocates for TRUE in the market through speaking engagements, publications and articles, advocacy, and outreach.
  • Identifying, developing and solidifying relationships with external organizations and partners.
  • Helping elevate the importance of effective zero waste strategies within the global sustainability movement.

The application period will close on April 5.

Who should apply?

Ideal candidates for TAC are familiar with TRUE certification for zero waste and have experience and interest in materials management and the circular economy. TRUE Advisor credential holders and USGBC member employees are preferred. We are seeking talented professionals who can commit to attending regularly scheduled calls and providing offline review and comments on technical rating system language (up to 2 to 3 hours per month).

Each volunteer position will be for either a one-year or two-year term beginning in June. Volunteers are eligible to serve a maximum of six consecutive years total on TAC.

Important dates

  • March 7: Application period opens.
  • April 5: Application period closes.
  • May 2024: Applicants will be notified of decisions.
  • June 2024 through May 2025 or 2026: The first term for new TAC volunteers
